    History:

Jur Beli are said  to originated from Bongo/Baka ethnic group from the Central African Republic in the company of the Bongo/Baka group,as a result of following the forests south-eastwards.

This lead to the migration and settlement of the Bongo into area north of Rumbek, whilst the Baka clan proceeded south-westwards to Maridi.

    Occupations

Due to highly sufficient annual rainfall to sustain this vegetation, the Jur ‘Beli are sedentary agriculturalists who practice shifting cultivation. Crops include sorghum, millet, beans, cassava, groundnuts and sesame seeds.

They keep goats and sheep and very few cattle, hunt and fish,as well as even keeping Honey Bee's,whereby an adult is expected to own more than 20 bee-hives.

Potential profit from raw materials such as timber/mahogany, honey and shea oil.
